Nostalgia and Home Style Food

Humble City Cafe, in Humble, TX.

This Restaurant has long memories for me and my family.  It’s always been the place for fun family celebrations or when we’re wanting some good home style cooking.

Humble City Cafe is housed in the historic Pangburn Building which was built in 1914.

Mr. Tom Ott is the owner of Humble City Cafe which opened in 1995.  I know we’ve probably been visiting since it’s opening.

Humble City Cafe prides itself in the freshest Southern home cooking and friendly service.

I always indulge in my favorite Vegetable Plate combo when I visit.  It’s a favorite that I cannot wait to eat and this is always the best place when I’ve got to have my fix!

They have the best fried green tomatoes, and they’re served with delicious ranch dressing for dipping.  YUUUUMMM!  Their fried okra always comes out piping hot and they have homestyle mac and cheese and mashed potatoes.  Gravy is served on the side when requested.

You always receive freshly baked rolls and cornbread upon arrival too.  The cornbread comes in a small cast iron skillet and is served with cinnamon butter.  Oh yeah!

Couldn’t wait to dig in!

The interior is an experience in itself.  The walls are covered in numerous tin signs and all types of antique items fill the entire restaurant. There’s so much to see and take in.

There is plenty of seating room at Humble City Cafe.  They’ve hosted us for many family parties in the past including my 50th Funny Hat Party, which is such a great memory for me.  Mr. Ott made an appearance and sang Happy Birthday.  He is well known for serenading patrons of the restaurant, especially in years past, so his song was really the icing on top of the cake for my celebration.  I’ll always remember it.

I hope you’ll stop in and visit the good folks at Humble City Cafe next time you’re in the Humble area.  They really do make an effort to make you feel welcomed and well cared for during your visit.  It’s a fun stop down memory lane as well as delicious food.  They have an extensive menu with all your Southern favorites like Chicken Fried Steak, Ribeye, Chicken Fried Chicken, Pork Chops, Burgers, and of course those yummy sides.  One thing that is a must try here is their Zucchini.  I don’t know how they get it so delicious but it tastes like it’s grilled and it’s sliced really thin. So good!  They also have Salads, Fish, Sandwiches, Pasta, the list just goes on and on.  Some of their specialties include Peach tea, their cornbread in a skillet, hand-made potato chips and fruit cobblers.  They also have their own bottled sodas.  Are you hungry yet?

You can visit Humble City Cafe online and read all about them and see their menu. They also have a banquet hall upstairs and cater as well.  A special treat is to visit during the holidays. It’s always so magical with all of the decorations.  A great place for a family holiday party.  I always like to visit at Christmas time.

Wishing you all good food and good fun.  Be sure to visit Humble City Cafe for Southern home cooking Yum!

Till next time, stay wonderful!
