Remember the Moments

That’s exactly what this fabulous lady, Beth Byrd, of Pretty Byrd Designs helps you do through her hand crafted paper genius.

I met Beth several years ago, and have been a huge fan of her work ever since.  I really love her sense of style, the romance and sentiment that she captures in everything she does.  She handcrafts special cards for every occasion imaginable, makes gorgeous keepsake boxes, gift tags, and unique journals.

When I asked Beth about her inspirations, she said, “I tend to focus on flowers, botanical images and nature. Vintage style items have always caught my eye and I’m in love with the “shabby chic” style. I use lots of lace, burlap, and distressed-looking embellishments in my creations.  There are so many sources for inspiration – nature, magazines, books, a scrap of paper or a piece of fabric. Walking through the craft shops is always exciting … but can be expensive!!”

I adore all the keepsake boxes that she makes.  She says that they are a lovely way to present a gift, and are the perfect size to hold a gift card. The boxes can easily stand alone as their own special gift and also make a wonderful keepsake treasure.  I agree.

The keepsake boxes are a recent addition to Beth’s lineup.  She actually began making cards.  Here is her story in her words.

“I have always loved paper, being drawn to the many variety of patterns and textures. Several years ago I signed up for a card-making class and began making them for my own use, to send to family and friends. Soon after, I found myself with more cards than I could possibly use. I began selling them to friends, at local shops and at craft shows. At the suggestion of friends I eventually opened my Etsy shop, Pretty Byrd Designs.

It’s rare for me to know ahead of time what my finished card will look like. Most of the time I let the paper, ribbon, ink and embellishments guide me. I’ll start off with a basic theme or concept but it is only after I sit down and start sorting through different papers, rubber stamps, ribbon and so forth that my card evolves. Sometimes it happens right away. Other times it takes hours.”

Beth’s shop showcases so many different and unique cards, it’s just fascinating to browse through everything.  You can get lost in there – in a good way!  She has cards for everybody, for every holiday, including Halloween, and life events.  Beth says, “It would be my pleasure to help you with a card or gift for any occasion.”  Did I mention that she’s probably one of the sweetest people you’ll ever come across?

And speaking of sweet – How about a sweet little journal to keep on hand.  She makes the cutest journals that are the perfect size to carry in your purse or backpack.  Beth describes them as a great way to jot down reminders, shopping lists or random musings.

Gotta love that Left Handed Journal!

I need to talk to Beth about creating a journal for me for my Yum Factor 10 outings, so I can keep notes in extra fabulous style.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of Beth’s artistic paper creations here and that you’ll stop by and see her.  I now want one of everything I’ve seen after preparing for this feature.

Beth says, “I am thankful for my customers and take pride in offering them a unique and handcrafted item. It is my hope that they enjoy their purchase and take pleasure in having something made with much thoughtfulness.”

And that they are – You can tell the time and thoughtfulness that she puts into everything she does.  So be sure to remember all your special moments Pretty Byrd style!  It’s definitely sentiment YUM!
