Quest for the Best Burger in Town and Conquering the Bayou Beast

What an exciting adventure!

And it all happened at Zachary’s Cajun Cafe in Kingwood, TX

I decided a while back that I would like to visit different eateries in our area on a quest to find the best burger(s) around town.  I had heard of Zachary’s several times from family members who are in love with their cajun cuisine.  I had no idea that they would be serving burgers and none the less have on their menu “Kingwood’s Best” Burger.

I found this out as we were planning a get together for my Son’s 26th birthday and Zachary’s was decidedly the destination of choice.

Well then of course I was very excited about trying this burger, and rightly so.  It’s really really good.  A half pound of flat grilled goodness to be exact, cooked just the way I like it.  A bit charred on the outside – Yum.  The buns are very soft, topped with mayo, and filled with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions.  It was really delicious.  My husband and I both ordered the burger and both enjoyed it.  The fries are nice and crispy.  So an awesome meal all the way around.

Now…  I know you’re most likely eager to find out about this Bayou Beast that’s being conquered.

My Son has been bragging for some time about the Bayou Beast Challenge at Zachary’s.  I suppose he does have a right to brag since he’s taken the challenge 4 times already and has claimed victory 4 times.  He was eager to face the challenge for a 5th time, and we were definitely curious to see what this was all about.

Here is the famous Bayou Beast Poboy from Zachary’s…

It’s a twelve inch poboy stuffed with fried oysters, shrimp and crawfish.  Then the whole thing is topped off with crawfish etouffee.  Wow!  And you also have to finish the fries.

They give you an hour for the challenge.  If you do conquer the Bayou Beast you receive a T-Shirt and your picture receives a place on the wall of champions.  So fun!

We all had a great time at Zachary’s, celebrating and dining on delicious food.

The service was really fast.  Our food arrived promptly and very hot.  You go up to the front counter to order and then they bring your food out to your table.

So a great new find for me here in the area.  I know I’ll be going back to Zachary’s when I’m craving a delicious burger, and my husband says he cannot wait to try out some of their other menu offers.  My sister loves their gumbo and she and her family have been patrons of this restaurant for some time now.

Zachary’s is on Kingwood Drive in Kingwood, Texas, off Highway 59, just north of Houston.  They are a family owned establishment and state on their website that all of their food is prepared in house fresh daily.  Nothing comes from a mix or a jar.  Each dish is made with love from old family recipes.  They also have a nice bar area and offer local craft beer on tap.

Be sure to check their website for specials and events.  They have great happy hour prices, an open mic night, and bands play on weekends.  So a lot of fun for everyone.

I definitely recommend them for burger YUM!!!!

Till next time, stay wonderful!
